Super Summer Smoothies!

It may not officially be summer, but it sure feels like it this week! I can’t wait for all the excellent produce to start showing up at farmers markets and grocery stores. Here are some new recipes for you to try, just in time for summer sipping.

Beauty from the Inside Out Smoothie

4-6 Kale leaves
½ cup frozen pineapple
½ cup frozen mango
½ frozen banana
½ cucumber, unpeeled
1 scoop Mila* Chia Seeds
2 cups water

Wash the kale and remove the tough stem. Blend all in a high speed blender until smooth.

Berry Detoxifying Summer Smoothie

½ cup fresh or frozen strawberries
½ cup fresh or frozen blueberries
1 cup dandelion greens
1 scoop Mila* Chia Seeds
1 tablespoon coconut oil (optional)
2 cups water if using frozen berries,  or 1 cup water and 1 cup ice if fresh

Wash the dandelion greens. Blend all in a high speed blender until smooth.

*Mila Chia Seeds are my new favorite addition to a morning smoothie. I got hooked on them this year while training for a half marathon. With more calcium than milk, more protein than beans, and more omega 3s than salmon, I make a scoop part of my daily routine. Mila is not available yet in stores, but you can click for more information or to order your own supply.  I wouldn’t recommend a product that I don’t personally use, and if you’d like to try it out, we have samples at our Akron office.
